DOLOMITICS
Dolomites Are required for all land classified as dolomitic
land. Dolomitic land is considered land underlain
by dolomite residuum at depths of more than:
- 60m in areas where ground water levels are in control and under consideration.
- 100m in areas where de-watering shall be carried out by competent person for all developments on dolomitic land into guiding the allowable land use.
The dolomite investigation in accordance with SANS 1936(2012) is required in order to determine the dolomite stability conditions beneath the proposed infrastructure and further obtain approval for the proposed development. The dolomite stability and associated risks are investigated through:
- Percussion drilling
- Trenching / Trial pit
- Geophysical surveys
